GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY - Railways At Work - 19-20 March 2022

Great Central Railway put on the RAILWAYS AT WORK Gala over the weekend of 19-20 March 2022

The Railway was delighted welcome, everyone to their 2022 Railways at Work event, featuring five steam locomotives, one diesel, and a diesel railcar (3 car).

The event showcased how the railways moved the Nation's freight, during the age of steam.

The station yard at Quorn & Woodhouse, saw a demonstration showing the loading and unloading of goods, and shunting OF wagons throuighout the weekend. Heritage road vehicles and a rail crane was in use as reenedtors recreated the scenes of a busy goods yard.

A Visiting British Railways Standard Class 4 2-6-4T 80080 (Appearing courtesy of the Princess Royal Class Locomotive Treust) was a special guest locomotice for this event, appearing alongside members of the home fleet.
